Voter Registration

Who may register to vote?

  • A citizen of the United States of America;
  • A legal resident of Hawaii; and
  • At least 18 years of age by election day.
(Note: If you have changed your address or your name, you must re-register.)

How do you register to vote?

Simply visit the Office of Elections website to download the instructions and application for voter registration.

Absentee Voting

Who may do absentee voting?

  • Any person registered to vote may cast an absentee ballot.
  • If you cannot vote at your polling place for any reason or you will be absent from the State of Hawaii on election day, you may vote using an absentee ballot.
  • You have the option of mail-in or walk-in. Click here to view absentee voter walk-in locations.

How do you do absentee voting?

Vote from home with permanent absentee ballots! Visit the Office of Elections website to download the instructions and application for a permanent absentee voter ballot.
